Off the back of ‘Kunai’ - their Rodrigo Deem-team-up, April sees Las Salinas return to the release front lines. Their latest Vandit offering steps over to the vocal side of the trance fence and additionally finds Shaulli Harari & Israel Bircher drafting in the talents of LA-born-and-based singer/song-writer Shannon Hurley. If her name is ringing anyrecognition bells, over the last five years, the songstress has apparently made a name for herself, lending vocals to the productions of Giuseppe Ottaviani, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Protoculture, Ronski Speed and host of others from the trance frat. 

Kicking off the warmer months, Major Lazer unleashed Top 10 single ‘Lean On’, a collaboration with ‘Turn Down For What’ producer DJ Snake and Denmark’s MØ, and amassed 21million plays on Soundcloud, over 65million streams on Spotify and over 20million views for the music video, making it Major Lazer's most streamed song to date. The trio have now announced a UK headline tour with dates across the country culminating in a London show at Alexandra Palace this October.

Glitterbox recently announced a move to Space Ibiza to host the Terraza. The weekly Friday party will open on 12 June, and run for 16 weeks until 25 September. This collaboration is a statement of intent and marks a fundamental change to Friday nights in Ibiza. Joining the Glitterbox line-up this summer will be Fatboy Slim, Hercules & Love Affair, Todd Terje, Groove Armada, and Julio Bashmore.

As the release of ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ on 27 October 2015 draws nearer, the cover art for the game was recently revealed online to gaming fans around the world. Several cryptic images were released to various online channels across the globe with no instructions, no explanation and no references to the Halo universe. Apparently it didn’t take long for “Halo Nation” to scour the Internet to piece together the mystery to reveal the cover art.

May 2nd 2013 was a special day in Soul Clap’s history. US soulful house trio Tortured Soul are possibly proof that modern soulful house can be freed from the DJ booth. Influenced by such classic artists as Prince, Heatwave and Kool & The Gang, the band deliver their third cool, groove-centred album, 'Hot For Your Love Tonight', dedicated to the memory of keyboard player and founding member Ethan White, who passed away suddenly in March at the age of 39. Opening with the heartfelt 'I’ll Be There For You', with other highlights including the deep house flavoured 'Don’t Lead Me On' and the seductively catchy album title cut, sandwiched among tracks including 'Dirty' and the disco groove 'Can't Keep Rhythm From A Dancer'.

Flower Power, the original Pacha Ibiza party, arrives in London for a special one-off event on Saturday 22 August at Studio 338. The event space in London will be totally transformed into a hippie haven complete with the original Pacha all-night DJ, Piti. Boasting one of Europe’s largest covered terraces and located on the Greenwich Peninsula, Studio 338 should be the ideal location to freak out to the boho beats as the sun sets over London.

For those who enjoyed Solarstone’s third ‘Pure Trance’ album last October, ‘Shield’ will need little formal introduction. The track is a generational twist on the caught-on-the-air strings and thermally uplifting tones of Solarstone classics like ‘4ever’, ‘Touchstone’ and ‘Seven Cities’. Sankeys Ibiza and Magna Carta recently announced another summer long collaboration that will see them come together once again for 20 parties between May and September. Magna Carta is known for its tech house sound and as such at the heart of each night will be regulars like Moon Harbour’s kingpin East End Dubs, Dogmatic label boss Alex Arnout, Spain’s Ramon Tapia and heavy house hitters Josh Butler and Dale Howard.

GRAMMY® nominated DJ and producer Armin van Buuren has joined forces with award-winning digital music service Spotify for his brand new single. ‘Another You’ features the vocals of multi-Platinum artist Mr. Probz and will be exclusively available on the streaming service till the official release date of 8 May. Armin has had a special relationship with Spotify, ever since he was the first DJ to upload his weekly radio show (‘A State Of Trance’) to the streaming platform.

Australian electro-house producer Bass Kleph recently released his newest production, ‘Scream’ on Bingo Player’s Hysteria Records. Adding to his diverse and extensive catalogue, this high-energy track emanates a Melbourne-bounce vibe that beckons listeners to the dancefloor across its 3-minute duration. 

Cream returns to Ibiza for its annual summer jaunt, this year celebrating 21 years on the Balearic isle. With a love affair that began back in 1994, Cream is back at its spiritual home Amnesia taking over Thursday nights with a summer line-up to rock the Main room and Terrace. 

Exit Festival’s 15 year celebrations will be marked by another adventure with eight days or music, mayhem and partying. The journey begins at EXIT, from 9 to 12 July at the historic Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia with the party continuing at the second edition of Sea Dance. Winner of the ‘Best Medium Sized Festival’ award at this year’s European Festival Award, Sea Dance will be take place on one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic Coast in Montenegro from 15 – 18 July.

After bidding a fond farewell to his ‘Magenta’ years, Giuseppe Ottaviani returns with a fresh production mind, body and studio soul as he releases ‘Lean On Me’, the first new music to come from the Italian DJ/producer, post the release of his sophomore album.

Eric Prydz has topped the Beatport Chart for the third consecutive time with his new single ‘Generate’. After a freezing cold winter, NYC is finally heating up. This summer, it’s just a quick ferry ride away from the steamy concrete jungle into the big city’s own island dance music oasis - ‘Open Air NY.’ TC Events & Promotions LLC, the team behind programming/producing Time Warp New York this past November, will be partnering with The Lure Group, a full service hospitality company behind the brands Slate and Clinton Hall, to exclusively produce the ‘Open Air NY’ outdoor electronic music event series at The Lure Group’s Governors Club on Governors Island NYC.

Today sees Matt Tolfrey deliver his 25-track ‘fabric 81’ mix after over ten years behind the decks at the London club. Matt’s musical roots lie in Nottingham where he regularly attended DiY events as well as the The Bomb nightclub, the latter being a home to authentic British deep house via the likes of Kelvin Andrews and Dave Congreve. Soon after, just after the turn of the century Tolfrey found himself behind the decks at The Bomb, and later Stealth, where he began to carve out a reputation for himself as a varied and adept house selector.

Today finds Apparel Music offering up the ‘Last Future’ LP from London’s SCHiLLiNG, comprising eight original tracks and showcasing his ability to craft striking sound design and intricately arranged works. Milan-born now London-based artist Ludovico Schilling aka SCHiLLiNG is a newcomer on the scene with this debut LP marking his inaugural release, yet an experienced sound designer and producer having been sculpting sounds for exhibitions, installations and events for many years now.

South West Four extends its reach beyond South London as they bring their club night Together back to Amnesia Ibiza for a series of parties. Kick-starting the season with an exclusive Ibiza launch party at Ministry of Sound on Saturday 6 June, Together will then return to Ibiza every Tuesday for a 16 date residency, before returning to the Capital to host an arena at SW4 on Sunday 30 August.

Fresh off the back of his performance at Coachella this past weekend (Sunday, 12 April), Martin Solveig recently revealed news of a 19 date residency at Pacha, Ibiza this summer. Kicking off on 27 May with special guests Madeon and Tiga, Solveig’s ‘MY HOUSE’ residency will run every Wednesday until its closing night on 30 September, as the Frenchman curates this new party on The White Isle.

August 8 sees Seth Troxler take over London's Tobacco Dock with his Acid Future concept, to pay homage to the UK's acid house history and heritage, and inviting artists from all over the world who embody the true spirit of acid house in 2015. Via the mind of one of Detroit's most forward-thinking proponents of future house and techno and the coming together of some of dance music's finest, London prepares itself for the warehouse party.

After recently revealing his debut album ‘Forever’ ahead of its release in May, Grammy-nominated Swedish DJ/producer Alesso recently announced his return to the UK for a special, one-off London show at KOKO, Camden on Friday 8 May. 

‘I Love You’ comes from Israeli born DJ and producer Obas Nenor, described by Nenor as “a farewell song” inspired by his own heartbreak. 

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing Carl Cox live, then you’ll have already experienced the sounds of Joe Brunning. Although his name may not be a household one just yet, his track ‘Let Me See You Work’, became a big tune for Carl Cox. 

In MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 World Premiere, Lucky Charmes was revealed to be the man behind ‘Skank’, the newly released single on Tiësto’s label, Musical Freedom. The track features a sexy tribal beat and a cool chanting vocal which combine to form a nice melody. Slowing to a single chime lull for the breakdown, the track soon picks right back up in its full melodic deep house guise.

Dirtybird protegé, Justin Jay, released his new single, ‘Mind Games’ for free download via the Free Music Mondays series by BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac. Coming off of a performance at The Do LaB for his Coachella debut, this 22-year-old Los Angeles native continues to make strides in his burgeoning career, as he gives back with a secret weapon from his sophomore dorm room studio days. 

Dave Angel returns to Bedrock with a new single. Dave is becoming a regular highlight on the label, his remix of Marco Bailey’s ‘Rubber Band’ in 2011 was apparently hailed as a pure master-class in techno genius, ‘Harlequin’ was a 2013 highlight, ‘Keep It’ lit up the Underground Sound of Miami, and his ‘Voodoo EP’ made 2014 an even better year for techno music. 

Belgians Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike recently won four EMPO Awards, gathering the haul including ‘Best EDM DJ’, ‘Best Track’, ‘Best International DJ’ and ‘Best Duo’ during the weekend ceremony in Mexico City. Attended by 30,000 Mexican fans, the pair also performed live with their usual mix of tunes at the Expo Bancomer.

Having been debuted as Annie Mac’s First Play (BBC Radio 1), the track by Serge Devant & Damiano ft. Camille Safiya that is ‘Fearing Love’ is finally out on Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ new imprint Emerald City. After being voted by DMC as Single of the Week and receiving airplay from Pete Tong as part of his Essential Selection, the original was recently released on Beatport as part of a two track EP, which includes a remix Jamie and Lee.

This summer, Together returns to Ibiza’s Amnesia, with Defected hosting the terrace, delivering a weekly festival of electronic music every Tuesday from 9 June to 22 September. Together celebrates six years on the island with a 16-week programme featuring acts including multiple dates with Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Sigma, Pendulum, Example + DJ Wire and Netsky returning to Together this season.

After a big 2014 with venue developments and popular lineups, this May Egg London celebrates its 12th Birthday, where they will be drawing inspiration from the Chinese Zodiac and its 12 signs, and throwing two 12 hour parties in one huge weekend. 

The London-based company ShowMango is offering all music fans a £25 per month plan for unlimited concerts and live music events. Recently, subscription-based businesses have been disrupting the entertainment industry as companies like Netflix and Spotify have changed the way people watch movies and listen to music. ShowMango goes after the live shows with a similar concept and promises to grow revenue for all promoters and venues it partners with.

Def Mix and Ministry of Sound have combined forces to bring to the UK a 12-hour Def Mix Day & Night event on Bank Holiday Sunday 3 May. The 12-hour party begins at 3pm in Ministry of Sound’s outside area, The Courtyard, featuring a 6-foot barbecue and cocktail mixologists, with a soundtrack provided by David Morales (performing a special disco set), Ricky Morrison, and London Disco Society. When night falls, the action moves inside to The Box and 103.

Solomun recently announced that he was coming back to Pacha once again for his weekly Sunday Solomun +1 showcase. The Diynamic label boss will now be laying down regular sets of high impact house and tech with a select few of his friends along for the ride. There will be huge star appearances, returning guests and plenty of debutants. One of the biggest surprises is that Sven Väth, who hasn’t played at the club for 20 years, will be joining Solomon for a very special party. This favour will be returned when Solomon plays for Sven’s Monday Cocoon party earlier in the season.

Dubfire continues to bring his audio visual concept dubfire:live HYBRID to some of the world’s biggest music events in 2015. The techno star’s most ambitious achievement to date, will be showcased at events including Sonar, Baum Festival, Time Warp Argentina, Caprices Festival and SW4 with more to be announced.

This week saw the release of the 2015 instalment of Ministry of Sound’s ‘Trance Nation’. Previous releases have featured UK acts Above & Beyond, Lange and Andy Moor and Europe’s Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate and Rank 1. Most recently, the series reached further afield still, with Egyptians Aly & Fila’s 2014 version. Now in 2015 Ministry welcome Simon Patterson to, in the words of MIXMAG, “the Super-Bowl of trance mix-comps”. 

Trance veteran Sean Tyas recently announced the release of his debut artist album ‘Degeneration’. This collection of music will be released throughout 2015 on a series of EPs that will precede a full-length album package set to include exclusive remixes and bonus tracks, which will hit shops in early 2016.

As we accelerate towards the summer, Cocoon Ibiza recently announced their line up for their 16th year on the Balearic island. Sven Väth, currently in the midst of a world tour, will be on the decks 14 times over the course of 18 Monday nights in the Cocoon Ibiza home - Amnesia. 

After his remixes of Bastille’s ‘Pompeii’ and Michael Jackson’s ‘Slave To The Rhythm’, as well as his newly released original single ‘Insomnia’ which has apparently been well received by music fans and critics alike, the Grammy-nominated DJ/producer Audien now tackles Nick Jonas’ ‘Chains’ - possibly one of the biggest singles currently on the market.

Paul van Dyk will drop the curtain on his fourth day-through-night We Are One music festival in Berlin this coming 4 July. From the broad range of electronic music, PvD recently revealed the full line-up of DJs, who’ll each bring their own sound to 2015’s We Are One. The festival is moving to an increased capacity location, with a fresh concept that incorporates an extended Paul van Dyk set length.

Finnish producer Darude is set to release his latest single ‘Beautiful Alien’ taken from his as yet untitled fourth studio album. With over 15 years experience under his belt, 2015 may be the start of an exciting new chapter for Darude. In just three short months, he’s already played at opposite ends of the globe, including Miami’s Groove Cruise, followed by a ‘special guest’ headline appearance at Australia’s Future Music Festival, where he performed to capacity crowds across five cities.

From main stage festivals to their presence at Tomorrowland, Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have a decent body of music under their belt. But it’s perhaps their Ibiza residency last summer that escalated their reputation with holidaymakers across the world. Now the Smash The House head honchos will return to Ibiza this summer for another season on the Amnesia Terrace with their very own, House of Madness Party.

From their style of production that introduced the world to the dark sounds of dubstep back in 2009, the boys from New Zealand have been honing and developing their craft ever since. Having inked their record deal with Ultra Music, Mt Eden pulled out all the stops for their debut single on the label with ‘Distance Kills’ in collaboration with Nolita Knights.

Sydney Blu returns with a her new EP ‘Need I Say More’, which is out 6 April on Hotfingers Records. Teaming up with UK techno and house producer D.Ramirez, the two have collectively gathered and unleashed a wild, energetic tech-house sound. 

‘Square Pegs, Round Holes: 5 Years of SNATCH!’ is a new mix album celebrating the 5^th anniversary of SNATCH!, with 15 previously unreleased records and 15 label classics. Founded by Riva Starr in 2010, the label was created as a platform to push undiscovered new talent as well as well-established, forward-thinking producers, all of whom shared a common agenda: to think outside of the box and create good music.

To celebrate the forthcoming ‘Double Agent’ album release later this year, Mooji has decided to share each single with aspiring producers. This is a chance to be included on a special remix album with a fee of €1,000 per remix and 50% royalty shares given to those that are chosen. Other prizes include SoundCloud pro accounts and publicity coverage with media partners such as Resident Advisor, Electronic Sound magazine and Trust The DJ.

The seventh year of Cocoon In The Park featuring Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Ricardo Villalobos, Dixon, Enzo Siragusa and Seb Zito will take place on 11 July 2015. Temple Newsam will be the home once again this year, with its natural amphitheatre focused on the one enormous stage surrounded by trees and rich green Yorkshire countryside.

Defected are honoured to announce the release of ‘House Masters Frankie Knuckles’, a charity release in collaboration with Def Mix Management and the estate of Frankie Knuckles. The album is a project that began in February 2014, with Frankie hand-selecting the productions and remixes he wanted to include on a retrospective release of his illustrious career. On the sad news of his passing on 31 March 2014, the project was duly paused. Now, with the creation of The Frankie Knuckles Fund established in partnership with the Elton John Aids Foundation, the release will finally see the light of day, with all profits being donated to the charity.

Eric Prydz continues into 2015 by recently unveiling his new single, ‘Generate’, a track that has been a staple in Prydz’s sets for months. The track will be released exclusively on Beatport on 13 April via Prydz’s Pryda Recordings and follows his recently concluded and completely sold-out North American Generate club tour, which saw him playing extended sets in intimate venues.

Stems, a new, multi-channel audio format was recently unveiled at WMC (Winter Music Conference) in Miami. A Stem file allows DJs and live performers to interact with different musical elements of a track independently by accessing four different ‘stem’ parts such as the bass, drums, melody or vocals. This type of mixing introduces new performance possibilities and enriches the listening experience for music lovers. As a premium file format, Stems can also create new revenue streams for music labels and online retailers to grow their business. Developed by software and hardware DSP specialists Native Instruments, Stems is an open file format designed to benefit the entire music industry.
