On 9 December, Ghostface Killah will release his latest project, a revenge concept album, entitled ’36 Seasons’. Defected’s House Masters is back with this latest edition celebrating the varied and illustrious career of one of the forefathers of the UK dance scene, Joey Negro. Joey is the most well-known pseudonym of British DJ, producer, remixer and label owner Dave Lee. Over the last three decades, Lee has recorded under a plethora of other monikers including Akabu, Doug Willis, The Sunburst Band, Jakatta, Raven Maize, Sessomatto and Z Factor, and since 1988 was one of the first British artists to incorporate disco samples into a house music style he is so recognisably identified with.
Sébastien Léger recently launched his Temple Of Lions label and announced a 20 Years retrospective album project. With a more melodic, slower soundscape now being accepted within the scene, December 2014 is the ideal moment for him to launch his new Temple Of Lions label to feature the melody rich productions he has been creating and championing for many years. Hercules & Love Affair proudly recently released the latest in a long line of music videos: a tribal, post-apocalyptic vision directed by AlexandLianne with styling from Bernhard Wilhelm and choreography from Josh Johnson, the co-artistic director of 'Sad'. Shot using Infra-red-converted digital cameras – which capture a completely different light spectrum – the film is directed by AlexandLianne, former collaborators with some of the biggest names in music including Kylie Minogue and Tiga, as well as global brands Nike and Mercedes.
This week marked the onset of a unique month-long collaboration between Serato, Ninja Tune and the New York based artist/producer and serial collaborator Nick Hook across music, art and film.
With the original version of ‘In Your Hands’ already out and had success in the Beatport trance chart, the label recently release the track’s remixes.
