Clubbers, DJs and producers remember Back To Basics as a club night in the history of house music. Still going strong (33 years and counting), the Leeds institution has been helmed by Dave Beer right from the start. Basics apparently gave UK debuts to US DJs such as Doc Martin, Derrick Carter and Francois K, and early opportunities to the likes of Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada.
Ferreck Dawn and Todd Terry join forces on their house single ‘Get On Down’ which is out now on Insomniac Records. Dutchman Ferreck has been on the grind in the house scene for more than 20 years, releasing dancefloor-aimed tracks with soul, melody and drum work.
Todd Terry is on form with his latest track ‘Black Again’ – a tune that aims to encapsulate all that is house music. Taking things back to the old skool, he strips back a production that is designed with the underground firmly in mind. One of the original pioneers of house music, Todd has already cemented his place in the house music hall of fame, but continues to evolve with the genre.
