Defected Croatia 2017 recently announced the line-up for the six-day event, which they’ll be hosting alongside official festival partners including Glitterbox, Mixmag, Traxsource, Objektivity and D-Vine Sounds. With last year’s Croatia moments in mind, Simon Dunmore and the Defected team have curated and selected a programme of DJs, with newly announced names that include Kenny Dope, Derrick Carter, Basement Jaxx (DJ set), Monki, Low Steppa and Nightmares On Wax plus more.

Detroit techno duo Octave One have announced the first phase of tour dates to mark the release of their recent album ‘Love by Machine’. Apparently selling out as a double vinyl package, the Burden brothers are now gearing up to bring the experience live with re-workings of the album tracks as well as incorporating much new unreleased material into the form of ‘Love by Machine’ live.

Goldfrapp will release their seventh studio album ‘Silver Eye’ on 31 March through Mute. The band, consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, also reveal their new single ‘Anymore’. Featuring strident strands of underground electronica, sensual melody and metal machine pop at its core, the new track is an assertive return from the duo.

After apparently selling out the Belasco Theatre in LA last month, Party Thieves is hitting the road on his Max Capacity Tour, where the DJ’s first headlining run of 2017 is an alternative to the average tour - four-stops, 300 person capacity venues and all free admission. The tour will start in February in New Orleans, then stop through Miami and an unannounced city before capping off in Fresno, California.

Sigma recently announced a live show at London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of the Albert Sessions. Taking place on Saturday 27 May 2017, the ‘Sigma Live’ performance will make Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie (plus band) the first D&B act to headline the world famous venue. With previous sell-out shows at the likes of O2 Brixton Academy and The Roundhouse under their belts, Sigma have promised something special for the iconic Royal Albert Hall.

Jamie Jones and Lee Foss have signed possible rising star The Golden Boy to their imprint Emerald City for the first release of 2017. The UK producer has found a home for ‘Egyptian Lover’ whilst iSaytek and rising producer Latmun provide remixes. The Golden Boy aka Dominic Hammonds had a decent 2016 after releasing on Glasgow Underground, MadTech, Love & Other and Nothing Else Matters whilst extensively touring Europe.

Marc Houle will kick off 2017 with the launch of a new three-part album series on his own Items & Things label. In the first album of the trilogy, entitled ‘Sinister Mind’, the Canadian artist serves up nine storytelling tracks that may stand as a testament to his studio skills. Houle has possibly been a definitive techno and minimal talent for more than a decade now. In that time he has built up a body of work that takes in a number of albums and EPs.
