Launched by Tiësto in 1999 and subsequently helmed by Richard Durand and most recently Markus Schulz, the ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ series is now within touching distance of its milestone 20th. Its third phase has been defined by a dynamic between its DJs. In Markus Schulz, you have your lynchpin, and then in close support genre progressives like Jerome Isma-Ae, Kryder, Gabriel & Dresden & last year Matt Fax, and classists including Kyau & Albert, Sunlounger, Andy Moor & Orkidea.
For its 2021 outing, ‘In Search Of Sunrise’’s gatekeepers’ Black Hole Recordings have been thorough in their selection of the 17th edition’s mixers. One shoe-in is Markus Schulz, here helming his fourth mix, and again bringing it with new material - both from his own and others’ hands.
Following its announcement earlier in the month, Dennis Sheperd opens the singles account for his forthcoming ‘Find The Sunrise’ album. ‘I Can Feel’ is the first release to studio-unite Dennis with fellow countrymen Roger ‘Sunlounger’ Shah with a track that’s a two-hander created by artists with their own individual sounds, and an appreciation of each other’s.
Last year’s ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ culminated in the November arrival of ‘ISOS’’s first ‘winter edition’. For 2020 though, Black Hole Recordings recently released the 16th edition this month, compiled by Markus Schulz, who returns for a third expedition, Giuseppe Ottaviani and Roger Shah, who dons his Sunlounger guise for its third disc.
