Robert & Lyric Hood’s house and techno project, Floorplan return to Luke Solomon’s Classic imprint with ‘Like Dat’. As an early member of Detroit’s Underground Resistance, Robert understands what it is to be the vanguard of a genre - now celebrating his faith through gospel-inspired dance music with his daughter Lyric.
Robert and Lyric Hood, aka Floorplan, return to Classic with the two-track release ‘The Curse Breaker / What You Need’, further demonstrating their gospel house sound. With their growing catalog of previous label releases gaining extensive club support from artists such as Dan Shake, TSHA, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler, to name a small few, as well as widespread specialist radio support, the appetite for their output is evident.
Robert and Lyric Hood return as Floorplan to Classic Music Company with another double-track release. Opening with ‘We Give Thee Honor’, a high energy cut teased during their set at Nuits Sonores festival in Lyon which caught the attention of Classic label boss Luke Solomon. As syncopated organ stabs are juxtaposed with a wild vocal loop and unpredictable gospel interjections, the record aims to create the unique energy of worship in full flow.
With ‘Angels By My Side', Sophie Lloyd delivered another release on Classic Music Company, powered by a leading topline from Pauline Taylor over a disco-driven, bassline. Aiming to be an anthem in waiting, father-daughter duo Robert and Lyric Hood, best known as Floorplan, now gear up to deliver their remix package, including a potential floor filling Main Mix and synth padded Dub.
Created as an outlet to explore his soulful, spiritual influences, Robert Hood’s Floorplan project has apparently become a name synonymous with gospel-inspired house music. Welcoming daughter Lyric to the Floorplan fold in 2014, the pair have been behind cuts in the last decade such as ‘Tell You No Lie’ and ‘Never Grow Old’.
