Defected recently announced the relaunch of the Faith fanzine with its Autumn 2020 issue, in collaboration with its creators Terry Farley, Stuart Patterson and Dave Jarvis. A free fanzine for those into music, fashion and culture, Faith existed as a print mag for seven years from 1999, apparently gathering a fierce cult following and spawning an online forum that set “the agenda for the next decade of the Internet,” before relaunching in 2020.
Compiled by Dave Lee and Will Fox, ‘Breaking The Beats: A personal selection of West London Sounds’, is exactly that. Released on Lee’s Z Records on 11 September, the album brings together the pair’s pick of some of the West London scene’s greatest tracks and remixes, featuring Bugz In The Attic, 4 Hero, Sunburst Band, Jazzanova, Atjazz, and many more. The album is available in double CD, gatefold double vinyl, download, and streaming formats; with sleeve notes by Mr Beatnick.

The Bedrock summer season continues with a techno-themed remix package. The Japanese Popstars’ ‘Matter Of Time’ (featuring Green Velvet) has been reimagined for 2020 with reworks courtesy of Coyu and OC & Verde, alongside a new techno mix from the Popstars themselves.
East London club, Fold, launch their new label with the ‘Common Assault' EP from UK producer Gareth Wild. The four-track EP, which is due for release on a limited vinyl run, is aimed at heavy-hitting sound systems and has apparently been tested out on their own dancefloor. This EP marks the start of something new for the brand as they aim to build their presence in the electronic music world.

Each year, 25 August marks Frankie Knuckles Day and to celebrate the occasion and the history of the classic ‘The Whistle Song’, Eric Kupper himself via Hysteria and in collaboration with the Frankie Knuckles Foundation and SoSure Music, has reproduced and remastered the original demo mix that he handed to Frankie on tape in a studio session all those years ago, for a special one-sided release. The duo were friends, production partners and long-time writing collaborators for over 25 years.
Maceo Plex is back on his own Ellum Audio with his latest track ‘Nu World’. Maceo has aimed to foment his own singular sound in the last few years with his melodic brand of techno, nurturing artists with similar mindsets on his label, and now taking the reins himself.
Darius Syrossian makes a return to the label that helped establish him with two house tracks plus a remix from Alex Ranerro. UK veteran Syrossian now heads up his own label Moxy Muzik, but in earlier years was a VIVa Music artist. He has also released on the likes of Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, Robsoul and Defected.
Following the release of last week’s ‘Levitating’ Remix ft. Missy Elliott and Madonna, the Blessed Madonna and Dua Lipa recently revealed the full list of collaborators for ‘Club Future Nostalgia’, which is out 28 August. Marea Stamper, is The Blessed Madonna, a Kentucky-born, Chicago-adopted, and now London-based DJ and producer.
