Opening his 2025 schedule and setting the tone for the year ahead, Patrick Topping returns to his Trick label for its landmark 100th release. Right from the off, ‘Baby Daddy (Sperm Donor)’ has attitude, thanks to its raw female vocal and amped-up house beats. Drum fills and synth filters build up the track’s energy, paving the way for basslines and FX.
Patrick Topping: “It’s TRICK’s 100th release, and it only felt right to commemorate it with one of my own! I’ve wanted to do something with this vocal for years. If you’re an OG, you would have heard me play it in my sets back in 2014! I’ve always loved DJ Nasty—ever since I first heard Jamie Jones playing an edit of a different track of his in ‘09. I then brought this vocal back as an acapella in my sets last year, and everyone went mad, so I thought it was about time I made my own version!”
Fresh off his ‘4 For The Floor’ EP late last year, which garnered support from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong to Jamie Jones, Geordie Patrick Topping is back on home turf for his label’s release.
