After three years, Warsaw's Private Press are back on Ben Sims' Hardgroove imprint with the five-track 'Very Cosmic' EP, following their 2021 production, the 'Busybody' EP. The EP sees Adam Brocki and Jan Wóycick, aka Private Press, deliver an array of peak-time energy.
From the counterpoint of dubby stabs and percussion shot through with LFO EFX of the title track; the slip-slide discordance of 'Big Shell Incident’; the granular melody mangling of 'Removable Obstacle' and the fluid, filter madness of 'New Outer Haven', the EP aims to subvert foundational techno signifiers with class.
Add in a drummy, vocal sample-led bit of classic Hardgroove action with just the right amount of weirdness, and the EP rounds itself out.
With releases and remixes for Rekids, E-Missions, Feel My Bicep and Indigo Area, as well as a contribution to Sims’ Synchronicity comp on his Symbolism imprint, Private Press’ discography continues to grow.
Private Press’ ‘Very Cosmic’ EP is out now on Hardgroove.
