Danny and Mike Parton draw inspiration from '90s house, French touch, disco and funk. Passionate about sampling, they transform musical influences into their creations, which led them to establish Jolene Records to share their passion for sound and rhythm.
Mike gets the EP underway with 'Discofloor', a full flavour cut with lots of lush loops from the bassline to the synths and the feel-good vocals. 'Tounu' has a deep but fat groove with quirky percussive sounds, chords and string stabs all topped off with a funky house feeling and filtered vocal sample that brings some Afro charm.
Danny's 'Someone' has soulful synth flourishes and jazzy brass leads, elastic drum loops and filtered synths that run the whole thing through.
The EP is closed with 'Champagne’, which layers up synth motifs, claps and horn loops.
Danny Parton / Mike Parton's ‘Jolene 01’ is out on vinyl and digital via Jolene Records.
