Bicep recently announced their new single ‘CHROMA 007 STEALL’, a collaboration with fellow Belfast native Hammer, which is out now on CHROMA. The release marks the first time the childhood friends have worked together on a track since 2015’s ‘Dahlia’ EP and arrives as the latest output from Bicep as part of their CHROMA project.
The project comprises a record label, a series of events, a new and constantly evolving AV/DJ show, and a visual identity created in collaboration with David Rudnick and his Terrain studio.
The track - named after a waterfall the trio hiked to together on the slopes of Ben Nevis in Scotland — is a track that will be familiar to anyone who has attended one of Bicep’s CHROMA performances or events over the past few years, not least their takeovers in London’s Finsbury Park and Brighton Beach.
The duo are also set to play a show under their DOVE alias as part of Fabric’s upcoming 25th birthday event in London on 12 October, and will mark a poignant moment for the pair, seeing Matt McBriar return to playing out for the first time since revealing he had recently undergone major brain surgery to remove a large and rare (non-cancerous) Craniopharyngioma tumour on his pituitary gland.
Their shows — which are more of a hybrid between DJ and live, involving the use of several pedals and a drum machine they can use on stage — have already taken in headline slots at Glastonbury, Coachella and Wilderness festival. They have upcoming shows at MIRA — Barcelona’s Digital Arts Festival — in November, Manchester’s Warehouse Project, and a return to London’s Drumsheds arena in December.
