The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and Defected Records come together to commemorate 10 Years since the passing of Frankie Knuckles, possibly one of the architects of the global house sound. The panel will examine Frankie’s contribution to house music, the origins of house and the importance of heritage in dance music.
It will also look at his continued influence on a new generation of producers, all discussed by a diverse selection of panellists some who were there, and others expressing the continued impact of his music in the present.
Defected Records continues to support and celebrate Frankie and his contribution to the global house scene, recently re-issuing his ‘Housemasters’ compilation on vinyl to commemorate the anniversary.
Panelist Frederick Dunson CEO of The Frankie Knuckles Foundation will give a first-hand account of Frankie’s early period with regards to performing at The Warehouse in Chicago. The Blessed Madonna, who knew Frankie well, will recount her stories of early Chicago house. Tedd Patterson, DJ from the NYC LGBTQ+ underground, will share his experience of Frankie and his music, and Cinthie will talk about the contemporary impact Frankie’s music had upon her own sound and style.
