Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2024, club night and record label Love to be… recently announced a series of global parties and releases as they aim to unite generations of house music fans around the world.
For original founder Tony Walker and business partner Marc Dennis, the brand began its journey within the UK club scene in 1994, back at the Music Factory in Sheffield. It apparently went on to be instrumental in establishing the popularity of house music in the area as their events were among the first to book artists from the US such as Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Frankie Knuckles and Roger Sanchez. And UK artists Dave Seaman and Pete Tong and in recent years Low Steppa, Sonny Fodera, David Penn, Mousse T. and Flashmob.
UK shows already announced include Mint Warehouse, Leeds Saturday 10 Feb with Marshall Jefferson and Julie McKnight; Canvas, Manchester Sunday 10 March with Mousse. T, Doorly and Trimtone; and a huge three stage day festival back where it all began in Sheffield, Saturday 27 April.
Following a party in Sydney, Australia in December with Basement Jaxx headlining, further Australia dates will also also announced in the coming months.
The brand will also be hosting anniversary parties in Miami for Miami Music Week, Amsterdam for ADE and a one-off show at Eden, Ibiza, while many more UK and international shows will be announced as the year progresses.
Marc Dennis & Tony Walker: “It’s been a hell of a journey to get this point and we feel privileged to have been able to do our part in supporting house music over the past 30 years. Our brand has developed from the early days of a weekly event in Sheffield UK to expand around the world with global events over the past three decades.
“Our plans for the 30th year are to add some of the biggest international talent to our line-ups, break new artists via the label and events and also pay homage to our history by adding some legendary names on to the events.
“As we celebrate the milestone, Love to be… will still deliver that proper ‘90s atmosphere combined with a modern-day vibe. We can’t wait.”
As well as being the directors of the brand Tony and Marc record and perform as Trimtone. Both have a deep history in the music industry as DJs and producers, having played shows and held residencies in venues including Space, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Sankeys, We Are FSTVL, Amnesia and Fabric to name just a few.
In addition to the events series, the record label will be releasing house music from artists including Grant Nelson, E Smoove, Adelphi Music Factory, Trimtone themselves and many more.
