Classic recently unveiled a two-track EP from Texas-born artist Seven Davis Jr. ‘Iss Good / Problematic’. Growing up inspired by legendary black vocalists Prince, Aretha and Stevie, Seven honed his classic gospel and jazz training into soulful, electronic house with an artistic edge, garnering attention for his self-released work and ushering in a wave of releases from various labels.
Cale, Fourtet, Hot Chip and shared the stage with Moodymann, Flying Lotus and Gilles Peterson.
He now demonstrates the evolution of his sound with this EP, a two-track package spearheaded by the lead, possessing a low-to-the-floor swag. ‘Problematic’ follows, featuring vocals and production from Californian music and movement artist Coflo, another understated four-to-the-floor track featuring ethereal vocals echoing from across the room.
It’s out 17 November.
