Setting the label up for the year ahead, Defected will kick off 2024 with a series of New Year parties across the globe with a series of celebrations across six continents. Powering dancefloors for New Year 2024 in Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North and South America, the label’s hometown of London will also see the label prepare for a double-header party at the OVO Arena, Wembley.
With the label's community at the heart of everything it does, 2024’s New Year campaign will centre around the theme of connection, with music serving as the catalyst. A play on the theory that any one person is linked to another through six or less connections, the campaign will focus on ‘the importance of human relationships, honouring its global community of music-lovers that have been its driving force for the last 25 years. With each continent representing a connection, partygoers from all corners of the globe will come together for a mammoth celebration of music and its globally unifying power.’
George Pritchard, Director of Events & Talent: “We can’t wait to celebrate with our biggest ever global New Year's showcase! We are putting on our most ambitious project yet - a celebration that will see us light up six continents! This event is not just another event; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of electronic music and the passionate community that has grown around it. From North America to Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, we will be bringing the Defected experience to some of the world's most iconic venues including London’s OVO Arena, Wembley.”
Stepping into a new era of its annual London tradition which has previously seen the label host parties at the city’s Ministry of Sound and Printworks, this New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day both Defected and Glitterbox will welcome clubbers for a back-to-back takeover at London’s OVO Arena, Wembley.
Soundtracking the event will be Sam Divine, Low Steppa and Ferreck Dawn, label boss Prunk and Rio Tashan. A takeover by Glitterbox on 1st January 2024 will welcome Eats Everything, Groove Armada, John Morales, Melvo Baptiste, Natasha Diggs, The Duke and The Shapeshifters alongside its crew of performers and surprise confetti moments. The line-ups for the remaining destinations in the six-continent takeover will be announced in due course.
Wez Saunders, CEO Defected: “What started as an idea from George Pritchard (Director of Events & Talent), becomes reality in a global festival of activity celebrating Defected’s 25th year across six continents. I would like to thank our DJs, producers, staff and community for all their support over the years. Thank you!”
