Making a label debut, Belfast-born producer Dee Montero graces Purified Records with his two-track ‘Aquila’ EP which is out now on all streaming platforms.Inviting listeners into his melodic dimension, the title track combines keys, percussion and synths to set the tone. The track ebbs and flows across its duration.
Moving into ‘Serenata’, the B-side maintains a laidback atmosphere, while floating across a soundscape. Combining an array of instrumentation and samples to cinematic effect, Dee produces two melodic cuts.
Dee Montero is the former Mambo Ibiza resident who at the end of 2017, received Pete Tong’s Essential Tune Of The Year on BBC Radio 1 for his cut ‘Halcyon’, which was originally released on Solomun’s Diynamic imprint.
Keeping busy ever since, he has released various EPs on imprints, including Knee Deep In Sound, All Day I Dream, Days Like Nights and Anjunadeep. He’s also had appearances at Burning Man on the Robot Heart, and Carl Cox’s Playground stages, and shows in Ibiza at Hï with Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli.
In 2020 he launched his own imprint Futurescope, enlisting his fellow producers Patrice Bäumel, Fort Romeau and Lauer for remix duties. He released his 12-track artist album in 2022, playing to those melodic touches, synths and peaks.
‘Maya’, the standout track from the LP, and homage to Future Sound Of London’s ‘Papua New Guinea’ got special rework treatment from Rodriguez Jr., pushing the release further.
With his debut EP on Purified Records, and his recent single ‘Freedom’ on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, Dee continues his journey through melodic sonic terrains and aims to keep his output flowing for the remainder of the year.
