John O'Callaghan is apparently in an ensemble mood this summer. No sooner has his x Tom Colontonio x Sinead McCarthy ‘Reality’ track being doing well within the scene, he’s now back with another crew and another release. ‘Power Of Now’'s release though is coming with a bit of a twist.
For the track, John’s banded together with fellow Irelander Paul Skelton (of Subculture, FSOE & Regenerate) and the voice of Sue McLaren. In its original form, the production’s another uplifting JOC number, packed with synths, beachfront ether and grand pianos. At her emotionally reaching best, Sue brings the track a message that couldn’t be clearer.
Playing against-type, John and Paul include their acoustic version. Placing the spotlight squarely on Sue’s words and song, their more chilled, string-tinged mix works well.
It’s out now on Subculture.
