Italian artist The Southern lands on Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD label with his latest EP, following releases on Truncate, SUARA, Kneaded Pains, CLR, and now MOOD with the ‘JCK THIS LOVE’ EP. His driving sound has won support from artists like Joseph Capriati and Adam Beyer, taking him onto the international stage at events such as ADE, Harry Klein Club, as well as many venues across Italy.
Opener 'Jack This' is a techno production with clipped and funky vocal stabs layered over driving drums, as the textured synths bring extra energy to the table.
'Get Some' comes through with edgy undertones, its dark vocals and bass building the pressure under smeared dub chords.
'The Love' has a machine soul feel that echoes the Detroit sound as it powers on, while an impassioned cry adds emotion.
Finally, ‘TRAM' brings industrial textures and drum programming ti finish the EP.
The Southern ‘JCK THIS LOVE’ drops via MOOD on 19 May.
