IMS Ibiza recently announced full details of its programming for the 14th edition of the summit. Following a history of closing keynotes from the likes of Nile Rodgers, George Clinton and the Pet Shop Boys, the event will welcome another performer in the arts to share personal insight in a keynote interview, experimental artist Grimes.
Grimes has embraced technology in the most powerful ways, immersively applying it to all aspects of her musical career. A powerful advocate of Ai and Web3 technologies in music and NFT art creation, professing that AI is humanity's natural evolution. Her digital music experimentation and social media footprint, including virtual bands in the metaverse, shines light on climate change and aims to continuously push the boundaries of digital technology and the freedom that it awards for creatives both now and in the future.
In 2021, she excited the NFT world with the release of ‘WarNymph Collection Vol 1’ By Grimes x Mac. The collection contains 10 artworks, including a unique video work set to original music composed specifically for the project. Additionally, Grimes appeared as a judge on Fox’s virtual avatar competition show, Alter Ego. Through the character of WarNymph and her decentralised AI girl group NPC, she explores the fluidity of identity in the virtual age: the ability to create, augment and splinter ourselves into unlimited avatars.
The keynote by Grimes + many others at IMS Ibiza will be hosted at the Destino Pacha Ibiza Resort, which, for the second year, will be privatised exclusively for attending delegates throughout its three days.
IMS Ibiza 2023 will be co-hosted by BBC Radio 1 broadcasters Pete Tong MBE and Jaguar, and the summit aims to ‘deconstruct the topics and issues that really matter, inspiring ethical and sustainable growth, and catalysing positive change from the boardroom to the dance floor.’
Also Icons of the electronic music industry will be recognised and celebrated with The IMS Legends Awards Dinner In honour of Mike Pickering (M People, Hacienda legend, A&R icon) hosted by YouTube at the exclusive Beach House.
IMS co-founder and lead curator Ben Turner:
"Grimes is one of the most important, impactful and creative artists of our times. A true visionary - sonically, lyrically, philosophically….and then there’s that angelic voice. It is a true honour to host her at IMS for our finale keynote interview in what is a rare visit to Ibiza. She will also be performing - more news to come."
