Hardwell teams up with fellow mDutchman Maddix to spread retro video game magic on a rework of classic 4 Strings track ‘Take Me Away Again’ via Spinnin’ Records. The original version was a breakthrough track best known for its presence on the Dance Dance Revolution games in the early-2000s and still holds up as a classic with over 27M Spotify streams to its name.
Since kickstarting his music career deep in the Netherlands at the age of 14, Hardwell has built his reputation crafting tracks that have landed him multiple International Dance Music Awards, 2 World no.1 DJ titles, an MTV European Music Award, and more in addition to official remixes for artists such as Rihanna, Calvin Harris, Moby, U2, J Balvin, and Coldplay.
The DJ, producer, remixer, label boss, filmmaker, and philanthropist has established a live presence headlining various festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Creamfields, Ultra Music Festival, and more, even ‘crashing the official live stream for his Tomorrowland set in 2012’.
Collaborating with fellow DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, and Tiësto, he is known for singles such as ‘Apollo’, which landed a Beatport no.1 and collected over 56M Spotify streams, and previous collaboration with Maddix Bella Cia, which amassed over 88M Spotify streams.
Maddix injects his sound into the track, continuing his career that has seen releases on labels such as Armada’, Spinnin’, and Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings as well as performances at festivals such as Ultra Music Festival, Parookaville, World Club Dome, and Mysteryland.
2023 is already off to a good start for the producer, kicking off the year with Hardwell on a remix of Benny Benassi and David Guetta’s ‘Satisfaction’ in addition to the ongoing viral presence of his techno track ‘Heute Nacht’, which currently sits at over 10M Spotify streams. The growth of his own sound has led to support from big names like techno artists Amelie Lens, HI-LO (Oliver Heldens) and UMEK, and EDM and trance artists such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tiësto and Armin van Buuren.
With a seal of approval from 4 Strings, who described the rework as “a dancefloor banger”, Hardwell and Maddix now reunite for their fifth collaboration, a trance rework that does the original justice.
Hardwell, Maddix, 4 Strings - ‘Take Me Away Again’ is out now via Spinnin’ Records.
