Chris Lorenzo launches his new label Late Checkout with possibly one of the most impactful records of his career. A collaboration with Swedish electro artist Cobrah, ‘Mami’ is a house cut with a vocal that’s apparently already proving popular on various dancefloors.
Chris’ recent releases include ‘California Dreamin’ - Beatport No.1 and currently sitting on 50 million streams and counting – his remix of J balvin & Skrillex ‘In Da Getto’, which was the most played remix of 2021 according to 1001 Tracklists and his collaboration with Chris Lake, ‘Chromatic’, under their Anti Up alias, another Beatport No.1 from earlier this year.
2022 has also seen him playing the main stage at EDC Vegas where he went b2b with AC Slater as well as making his debut at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Rock in Rio. It’s been during this sets that Lorenzo has been road-testing the new single.
Chris Lorenzo: “I had been listening to Cobrah’s stuff for a while and knew that stylistically, her vocals over my beats could work really well. We were in the studio for 2 days recording different ideas but I especially remember the moment Cobrah came up with the Mami lyric. I knew right then and there what we created was going to be huge, even before the beat was finished. On top of being super talented, Cobrah is an absolute gem to work with and be around. I look forward to making some more fire with her.”
Cobrah is the self-made, Stockholm-based electro artist, songwriter and producer aiming to pave a new way in the alternative music scene. Early in her career she founded the label Gagball and released the first single ‘IDFKA’ which received a Grammy nomination for her directional work on the music video.
The strong start followed up with the debut EP ‘Icon’ which has already passed over 4 million collective streams. Three months later she released the single ‘Tea’ on Rinse FM, while her 2021 self-titled EP and the single ‘Good Puss’ possibly cemented her status as an artist to watch. The EP has now been streamed over 13 million times. Most recently she released the track ‘Brand New Bitch’.
