The recent string of releases of Armada Music regulars Niiko x SWAE finds the LA duo’s sound with possible crossover potential, and their latest vocal piece, ‘Typical Love’, is an example of that. Pushing the instrumental into the back seat to let its lyrical message take centre stage, the track is a pop/club track that aims to tell an insightful story.
Niiko x SWAE: “Everyone has that certain idea in their head of what a traditional, fairytale love story should look like. Contrary to the song title, ‘Typical Love’ explores the opposite. It’s about normalising typical relationships, about relationships that truly make us feel special regardless of the status quo. It is about stepping out of your comfort zone and finding love in places you would have never explored otherwise.”
Childhood friends Niiko x SWAE spent their early days learning to produce and dreaming of playing their part in house music. Flash forward to today, the pair are regulars on US dance radio, have residencies at Hakkasan, Las Vegas and Omnia, San Diego, lent stage support to the likes of Marshmello, Kaskade and Zedd, and have remixed tracks from the likes of Bebe Rexha, Charlotte Lawrence, Cheat Codes and more.
