DJ/producer Matoma teams up with friend and videographer, Toby Froystad, to teach him how to make a music track via an eight part online music production series called ‘Teaching Toby’ - a comprehensive guide on how to create a track from scratch.
Matoma is a Norwegian DJ/producer, ‘The Voice’ TV show official coach and climate activist.
Tobias Froystad or “Toby’ is the ‘One In A Million’ documentary director, a film he made which shot to #1 on the iTunes documentary and indie charts and ‘sold out the biggest cinema in Europe on its premiere release’.
The first episode is on Matoma’s official YouTube channel and after each episode is broadcast, there will be a consecutive live-streamed Reddit discussion where they will answer questions on the episode directly from viewers.
The classes take you through all aspects of music production from A-Z, specially designed for aspiring producers to follow step by step, with explainers along the way. They will cover everything you need to know to get off the ground - from opening up a project to understanding the essential tools of what you need; including EQing, effects, vocal edits, chopping, sampling, BPM and the whole creative process from beginning to end.
Matoma has collaborated with artists the likes of Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, Becky Hill and The Vamps as well producing array remixes for artists such as Coldplay, One Direction, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Sean Paul.
