Greg Gow has possibly been building a reputation as one of Canada’s greatest musical exports in recent years. From his base in Toronto, Gow intertwines the sound of Detroit with the flavours of his hometown, creating decent results.
Here with ‘Base Jumping’ on Poker Flat Recordings, Greg provides a reminder of why his popularity is increasing. The track is a deep cut, drawing on elements of dub and minimal techno for its inspiration.
‘Lost Chords’ is a more upfront reckoning, planting its flag in the ravey, tech house camp. A thick analog bassline makes it way through the track, adding a swing to proceedings.
Finally ‘Minister Of Music’ rounds things off - a bumping house track with a sub bass and thick, Detroit-esque chords and strings that add to the tension.
