When Morten Trøst unveiled his Soulmagic alias with his debut release in 2003, the record, bearing the same name as his new pseudonym, possibly became an instant house classic. Now, nearly 20 years later, the track is still played on some dancefloors, and with these three brand new remixes on Soulfuric Recordings, it may help it secure its club appeal for another decade.
Up first, north London duo Saison deliver their funk-laden mix, with a firm nod to their classic house influences. Next, it’s the turn of Italian producer Marco Lys, who ups the ante with a driving bassline and energetic builds.
Finally, Morten, joined by newer member of Soulmagic, Mikkel Wendelboe, returns to the track that started it all, weaving in melodies and jazz-infused instrumentals to produce a transformative remix.
It’s out 10 July.
