Keeping the ‘Home Cooking’ fires burning, DJ Yoda’s latest track is titled ‘Kingswood’ and is out 23 August. Featuring the vocals of Andrew Ashong and supported by BBC 6 Music’s Gideon Coe, the track is a summertime loll to lie back in deep thought and chill.
Recorded between Yoda’s own studio and the world famous Abbey Road,
‘Home Cooking’ keeps one foot in the hip-hop old school with collaborations with the returning Jungle Brothers (the party-starting ‘Afrika’) and Boston bastion Edo.
G (a peaceful route from London to ‘Roxbury’), and spreads to a melodic vibe scoring chilled Sunday mornings. And with British jazz currently in the rudest of health, Yoda lines up possibly some of the best musicians the scene has to offer with Theon Cross, Nubya Garcia and Henry Wu.
Catch the premiere of DJ Yoda’s Tarantino AV special at Filmstock, where all the acts are movies – a one day event that alloys the spirit and spectacle of the British summer festival with a celebration of cinema.
