Following its 2018 edition, Boomtown has announced the introduction of AREA 404; a techno haven featuring some of electronic music’s most influential figures. The four-day 60,000 capacity festival set in the Matterley Bowl in Hampshire, UK on the second weekend of August, will construct a theatrical led new stage area; the industrial, post-apocalyptic AREA 404 will be dedicated to the raw sounds within the electronic music spectrum.
Drawing deep inspiration from Boomtown’s delivery and commitment, the independent festival now in its 11th year, will also invite Drumcode and Bugged Out to host the stage for Friday and Sunday, respectively, with confirmed headliners across the Friday, Saturday and Sunday including Carl Cox, Four Tet and Amelie Lens.
Celebrating 25 years of Bugged Out, Australian Lo-Fi house artist Mall Grab will join Ben UFO, Joy Orbison, Phantasy Boss Erol Alkan and Boyz Noize as they also welcome Four Tet’s electronic sound too.
Saturday’s headliner is Carl Cox.
The DJ and figurehead makes his Boomtown debut with Eats Everything, Dirtybird leader Claude Vonstroke while Skream is set to share the booth with fSAMA'.
Swedish techno platform Drumcode will bring its sound to Sunday with sets from Dense & Pika, Enrico Sangiuliano and a special b2b session from La Fleur and B.Traits before possibly one of the biggest names in techno headlines proceedings. Antwerp-born Amelie Lens’ ascension to festival main stages worldwide has been meteoric and cements AREA 404’s residence amongst the techno elite.
