The self-confessed “odd couple” of Glaswegian dance music, Illyus & Barrientos are musicians with very contrasting backgrounds but a future that’s looking increasingly promising after a slew of releases on Suara, Toolroom and Glasgow Underground.
After a weekend playing at Ministry of Sound in London and the Riverside Festival in Glasgow, the pair now joins the ranks of DFTD with summer track ‘Takin’ Over’. The track bursts with Ibiza terrace vibes and may well be commanding the dancefloor at daytime parties throughout the party island and beyond.
Vocals from Imaani lift the bassline with plenty of possible hands-in-the-air opportunities and a hook that aims to create some memorable moments when it takes over.
