German duo Mat.Joe, who have previously released on house labels Strictly Rhythm, Exploited and Hottrax, will be touring North America this November, including stops in Dallas, San Francisco and Chicago. Mat.Joe are Matze and Johannes, two German producers and DJs who apparently have been causing quite a stir in the house world over the last few years. Originally from Hannover, they moved to Berlin for new artistic challenges and quickly found their niche: crispy urban house beats paired with rhythmic soul and hip-hop elements, resulting in deep, rich music aimed squarely at the dancefloor.
Releases on Mother Recordings, Snatch! And Exploited – the last of these a remix of Claptone’s ‘Heartbeat’ – have seen their stock steadily rise, along with their remix of Gershon Jackson’s ‘Take It Easy’ alongside Sonny Fodera. Released on the US imprint Strictly Rhythm, ‘Take It Easy’ topped the Beatport charts for weeks on end, and was possibly one of the biggest house records of the early part of 2016, while their ‘Swipe The Card EP’ on Mother was apparently hammered on house dancefloors last summer.
Current releases include a follow up on Mother ‘Brothers In Crime EP’ and ‘Weego’ a new track that will be released exclusively on Claptone’s forthcoming compilation for Defected.
Their upcoming tour may further establish the duo as one of the possible future stars of house music.
Mat.Joe ‘Brothers In Crime EP’ is out now on Mother Recordings. ‘Weego’ is out 28 October on Defected Records.
