S-Man aka Roger Sanchez partners up with Man Without A Clue for house single ‘Drop The Needle’ with Kevin Knapp on vocals and remix duties. Sanchez kick-started his S-Man alias in 1994 as a method of pursuing ‘dark, dirty, straight dance floor tracks’, leading to productions such as ‘Rhumba’ and ‘Time 2 Stop’.
Meanwhile, Holland’s Man Without A Clue is apparently a hotly tipped newcomer who’s not only released on Defected, Suara, Dopewax and Skream’s Of Unsound Mind, but has also earned the respect of three of the genres truest originators; Todd Terry, Kenny Dope and of course Roger Sanchez.
Geared for the dancefloor, ‘Drop The Needle’ lays down a moody bass hook whilst shuffling hats and Kevin Knapp’s catchy spoken vocals resound on top. The remix then sees Knapp, who’s just released on Hot Creations, combine a low-slung groove with fuzzy synths and whirring atmospherics for an innovative rendition of the original.
‘Drop The Needle’ is out 7 September on Undr The Radr.
