As football fever grips the world ahead of the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup today, a great way to get in the mood is by revisiting a classic football anthem. Originally released in 1998, Dario G’s ‘Carnaval de Paris’ has been embraced by football fans the world over and 2014’s Rio Remixes put a whole new spin on the track.
First to remix ‘Carnaval de Paris’ is Jaxxon, the up-and-coming UK EDM producer who has seen his work championed by everyone from Tiesto to Eddie Halliwell. Jaxxon puts his trademark hard-hitting big room house spin on the track, transforming it into a fist-pumping electro workout.
Next up is Dzham & Alta, who bring the track bang up to date with a modern progressive trance feel mashed up with a slamming dubstep breakdown. Meanwhile Owen Westlake turns up the heat with a sexy Latin house feel, teaming flamenco-style guitars and accordions with a bouncing house beat to form a nice groove. Finally, Jonas Westling retains the anthemic trumpets and frantic percussion of the original track for a remix that is as Rio-ready as they come.
Dario G: “‘Carnaval de Paris’ just won't go away - it hasn't aged at all! It's been 16 years since its original release and it's still sounding as fresh and lively as ever. The new Rio Remixes are great and each one adds an extra twist to a now classic record that I'm very proud of."
