London’s Apparel Music returns with a very special limited edition vinyl release featuring music from Ivan Tetlepta & Roger Gerressen and Emerson Todd. The Apparel Music label has its roots embedded in the creative and avante garde end of electronic music, from its unique packaging, to its leftfield jazz orientated house, techno and electronica.
Now the London based imprint is back with another work of love, ‘The Attitude EP’ is the product of a musical face off between Dutch pair Ivano Tetelepta & Roger Gerressen and New Zealand producer Emerson Todd, but its path to fruition goes beyond the musical and encompasses a six month long art competition used to source the 20 images that were included with the limited vinyl release. The producers behind the EP bring a weight of reputation with them, with the A-side tracks delivered by Fear of Flying, Wolfskull and Sudden Drop regulars Ivano Tetelepta & Roger Gerressen whilst the flip has Saved Records man Emerson Todd at the controls.
The package kicks off with Tetelepta and Gerressen’s ‘Just Because’, a deep and dubby slice of house that fuses organic percussion and rich bass to deliver a house groove. The second track from the pair comes in the shape of ‘Time’, a tightly looped and filtered house outing that shows the duo’s production skills with its subtle layering and melodic elements. On the flip Emerson Todd kicks off with ‘Slow Hand’, a stripped back piece of emotive house that weaves some off kilter elements into a piece of deep house. Closing the release is Emerson Todd’s ‘The Freeze’, a bass heavy, hypnotic cut that has a mesmerising quality with its tightly edited and effected vocal parts and understated synths leading the way. It’s out now.
