Eric Prydz’s ‘Black Dice’ residency, his first ever in the US, at Wynn Las Vegas plans to usher in an evolution in Sin City’s recent love affair with dance music. ‘Black Dice’ offers a new paradigm for Las Vegas, paired back production with black-out lighting, fog machines and lasers, musical spontaneity beyond sure-fire club hits; it’s aim is about immersion, and surrendering oneself to a DJ's journey. A homage to Las Vegas the residency will take things darker, creating a leaner clubbing experience, centered on the music.
“With Black Dice, we’re taking a risk,” said Prydz. “This residency is all about pushing a new sound in Las Vegas, translating what I do at club shows in Europe to North America. Black Dice is about the music and the environment, we are going to darken things up, strip things back, and create something that is a little edgier.”
In 2012 Eric Prydz came back to America for his first US tour in five years, headlining the amphitheater filling IDENTITY tour. At the same time he started his EPIC Radio podcast, and released the album, ‘Eric Prydz Presents Pryda’, a collection of key productions under his Pryda guise, that was heralded by fans and critics alike. It was one of the few records of the year that bridged the gap between mainstream popularity and underground credibility. Prydz returned to the US in November for two sold-out Thanksgiving shows at Roseland Ballroom, and capped the year off with a Grammy nomination for his remix of M83’s ‘Midnight City’.
