Paul Cooper - Cala Vadella (Superficial Recordings)
Probably late on this one, looking at when it was sent to us. But that shouldn't stop it being a Tune of the Day, a good tune’s a good tune, no matter when it came out. Right? Well we’re going with it anyway and you’ll see why. Names after the town in Ibiza where it was produced, this is the work of Paul Cooper and is Superficial Recording’s fifth release.
Any tune with chanting, tribally beats and a nice piano hook is always going to work for us and this has all three in abundance. It comes in five mixes, kicking off with the energetic original. The Machine mix strips it back to more beats, although it does have a great extended breakdown where the piano hook runs riot. Chris Coco takes it on the down-tempo vibe, perfect for all those sunset strip bars. Will Clarke’s remix goes for a more driving tribal house feel and works really well. Last but no means least, it’s the turn of Danny O’s remix, his mix is probably the most different from the original, but is good nonetheless. Really catchy tune, really strong mixes. Top release
