Berlin Music Week returns for its third year in 2012 with a new Business-Platform concept and Club Festival. For more than 20 years, Berlin has grown, lolled and changed in her role as a music capital, simultaneously setting global trends. Celebrated worldwide as one of the most interesting spots for creativity, innovation, originality, uniqueness and authenticity – not least because of its pioneering mix of music industry, festivals and club events – Berlin sets an international standard.
Berlin Music Week brings together this hotbed of creativity for a five-day, city-powered constellation of music showcases, concerts, parties, conferences, panels, seminars and networking opportunities, providing music fans and professionals a compact panorama of what’s trending in the international music industry. This year it takes place from September 5–9, nesting in its new location, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. This happening neighbourhood centers around the Spree’s Osthafen (Eastern-harbor) is a hotbed for music production and music related start-ups and tech. As a happy consequence, in this “kiez” some of the cities best club, pubs, and bars are all within a stone’s throw of one another.
Word On Sound, is a new business and conference platform taking place from September 5–7, 2012. It’s a professional development and exchange forum for music protagonists and curious creatives. The platform consists of smaller, more targeted events and moves away from a traditional trade fair experience. Programming and partners of Word on Sound facilitate discourse on music and all that it inspires: live events, film, art, fashion, academics, community, political action and of course digital and analog commerce. Topics include: digi-digi con, World Nightlife Fund, Green Tech in Action, Denkfabrik, all2gethernow Werkstatt, Musikpädagogik Master Class, Kreativ Kapital and Most Wanted: Music.
