The Berkeley Suite, a Glasgow premium late night bar and ballroom, plays host to a malaise of musical maestros in May, with exclusive sets from Derrick Carter, Etienne Jaumet and a one off night from Optimo’s Twitch. Known as one half of Parisian dance duo, Zombie Zombie, French producer Etienne Jaumet will play at The Berkeley following a tour across Berlin, London and Paris. The electronic genius who recently worked with Detroit legend Carl Craig is a little bit of a coup for the venue, and is definitely a night to stick in the diary.
It is three years since The Cramp's Lux Interior left the planet and the intention had been to do an annual celebration of Cramps inspired Rock N' Roll mania, but somehow that failed to materialise. The Berkeley Suite felt like the perfect place to rekindle this celebration, so, for one night only, you can rejoice in a night of music The Cramps taught us. Apart from a few choice numbers from The Cramps and their close allies, this will be strictly music from the 1950s and will feature the best primal Rock n' Roll, Swamp Soul, Demented R&B, Tittyshakers and general all round Sleaze. Selectors on the night will be JD Twitch with assistance from Crusher Wilbur. With Derrick Carter set for Saturday 5th May, you can get info on the rest of the venue’s plans for May here: www.berkeleysuite.com
