Chelonis R. Jones

Chelonis R. Jones

Chelonis R. Jones is an American artist of the old school tradition - leaving NYC for Europe, in order to pursue a career in the world of The Arts. Armed with his paintbrushes, unpublished manuscripts, songs and poems, he decided to commit himself fully to the vitriolic world of the Blood Artist (Total Artist) and its sometimes hardcore cause. Working as a songwriter and playing vocalist in more than 20 rock/pop groups, he eventually entered the artshow-world with "American Anarchist" and "The Dream" luring controversial praise from top art magazines like Monopol in the process.

In 2001 he was introduced and signed to Get Physical Music and his first 2002 release ‘One & One’, a collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade, started the ball rolling. 2003 followed with the deep house anthem ‘I Don’t Know?’ which topped many playlists and the Belgian dance charts twice, putting him on the map. 2005 ignited the self-produced, controversial, lo-fi album ‘Dislocated Genius’, which also dons an original canvas work cover and up until 2008 he’d worked with many giants of electronic music, including Röyksopp, Corrugated Tunnel, Booka Shade, Hell, Marc Romboy and many more. 2008 introduced the release of ‘The Forgotten Floor’ project (with Alex Dandi) and 2009 was the year of a label change to Systematic Recordings, and the CD release of the third highly acclaimed dark diamond ‘Chatterton’. After endless live shows, featuring with the likes of Spektre, Oliver Huntemann and Booka Shade and Röyksopp, 2012 is the time for his second long player on Systematic Recordings, entitled ‘The Prison Buffet’. It’s out 11th May on Systematic Recordings.
