Riva Starr has been busy at work bringing some exclusive and original South American cuts for his upcoming album ‘Batería Fantástica’, a compilation set for release on Snatch! Records. Heavily influenced by the rich cultural heritage of South America, and infused with a robust homage back to early Miami days, label head Riva Starr has called upon some heavyweight producers to collaborate and collide, to form a flavour that is unlike their usual sound.
Collaborations come from Riva himself, DJ Sneak and Guti, with other artists including; Carl Cox & Jon Rundell, El Pocho, DJ Madskillz & 2000 and One, Ramon Tapia, Pirupa & Spada, Nouveau Yorican Aldo Cadiz Toto La Momposina and more. Riva cites his inspiration for the compilation coming squarely from his Southern Italian roots, specifically his hometown of Naples. Starr adds that he has "always had a very strong connection with the sounds and atmospheres of the South. That's why I wanted to involve my friends on this special project, where everyone creates a track, exclusively for the album." Now, the album is set for a launch party in Miami as Riva takes over Mokai Lounge on 235 23rd St, Miami Beach on March 22nd and joining him will be DJ Sneak, Guti (live), Pirupa, Ramon Tapia and Leon.
